We are a wretched blight.

Mueller’s testimony having ended without a knockout, the judges are now calling the fight.

The little caesars – Pizza Pizza! – responding to the hoi polloi in their districts have already thumbed their vote.

What’s changed?

So we’ve given the opposing voice, the one chanting live amid louder screams of die or vice versa, a chance to feel represented and empowered through their little caesar. The net outcome is the same, live or die….you just can’t claim you’re oppressed or disenfranchised if yours is not among the loudest voices.

Isn’t this more pernicious? A regression rather than an evolution from the standpoint of net outcomes?

Can anyone rise up anymore and storm the Bastille with moral conviction when there are voting booths….in gerrymandered districts?

It doesn’t matter that “Mueller’s report is a damning document of crimes by Trump“, what matters is that Mueller, qua gladius, is a “frail old man, unable to remember things, stumbling, refusing to answer basic questions“. He didn’t please the crowd with his gladiatorial performance….because that’s still how we make decisions.

But it’s all draped in impotent reports, with citations, written in compliance with protocols and standing policies, alongside a constitutional process that has balanced power among three co-equal branches each with its own role and responsibility in advancing the interests of We The People.

So if you’re not happy with the outcome – too bad so sad. That’s the best we can do. The alternative is worse.

If that’s true, then we are a wretched blight on this planet.

And just like any contagion, so long as it is small and contained – pas de problème. But when it spreads and grows in virulence – it kills its victim and then expires for want of another.

Those of us who see the chlorosis everywhere these days….what are we to do? Wait for the next election? And if the little caesars like the chlorosis and have convinced half the hoi polloi that it is good….what then?

The time will come when we will all have crossed the Rubicon and there will be no going back.
