Irreconcilable Differences

January 6 has come and gone and the news cycle is now dealing with the aftermath of the attack on the 117th Congress as a round-up tally of the criminals involved.

But was that sedition or was it rightful rebellion?

“One man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist…” is a phrase that makes the obvious relativist point that the side on which you stand influences the conclusion you draw on the righteousness of each position.

And for some, maybe for most, who “stormed” the capitol, they stood on the right side. They truly believed that they were taking up arms against tyranny in defense of our beloved Constitution.

What do we, those who “know” that there was no tyranny to vanquish, do with this lot?

If you consider the number of people who voted for Drumpf, they’re a sizable bunch.

Mr. Evans – Former (as in recently forced to resign) Member of West Virginia House of Delegates

There are certainly people who in bad faith fomented an insurrection without just cause and out of pure self-interest. Drumpf, the atrophy of his psychologically damaged mind to the side, is one such person. Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley and Count Giuliani are others. There are more. These are the people who should be our prosecution priority.

These are the people who manipulated the masses into believing that the election was stolen, that the “establishment” was disregarding the will of the people and falsifying a victory for their candidate’s adversary.

Democracy, in all its forms, has always been deemed to work so long as you have a discerning and educated constituency. Stated more neutrally so we don’t get distracted by elitist ad hominem, in a Democracy, you get what the majority wants.

A little over 4 years ago, the voting majority of these United States indicated to the world what it wants. The rest of us thought that they were angry and just lashed out; that they would soon see the error of their ways.

Four years of gross negligence and willful misconduct (the prototypical carve out from indemnifiable acts) followed…continuously….not continually….continuously. Day after day a stream of idiocy flowed from our highest public office.

A couple of months ago we came to learn, sadly without any more room for doubt, that the voting majority of 4 years ago saw none of that. Worse, a large swath of them, were indeed deplorable! The rest, masochistic simps and credulous cretins who actually wanted more winning (flat out losing), more freedom (brainwashing), more religion (immoral bigotry), more straight talk (lies) and more wealth (oligopoly).

There’s no unity to be had with this 70 Million strong belligerent mob. We cannot rehabilitate a cult following of this magnitude.

So either we keep living together, fighting over guns and masks and who is entitled to what rights and watch our country, the child in this metaphor, grow into the Frankenstein that such unions inevitably produce. Or we cite irreconcilable differences and figure out how to parse the matrimonial assets.

There is a third way. We temporarily separate – red states and blue states. They go on without masks and vaccines since it’s all a hoax. In a couple of years we give what’s left of them Texas…the Lone Star Republic.

Mexico and the US will then happily fund a wall that circumnavigates their entire country….hell, we’ll even build it, maintain and repair it….they won’t have to lift a finger so they can keep them all free to squeeze the trigger if someone tries to illegally immigrate.
