So, you’re offended. Really upset about what someone said about a subject you hadn’t thought about in a while, eh? We’ve been pissing each other off for centuries but the uptick in seemingly genuine offense given is absolutely peaking.
There is a popular quote making the social media rounds that reads “The more easily you get offended, the less intelligent you actually are.” That statement likely offended some, maybe even you, but it’s true. An intelligent person believes, rightly or wrongly, that they’re above your comment/opinion/position. They might be an absolute ass themselves but they are definitely not offended by anything you say and, they shouldn’t be.
To be bothered by the offense of another is a waste of your precious time, not theirs. When you can get comfortable with that concept you’ll never be offended again.
